Tsukiji Honganji Temple

 

A very unusual looking Buddhist temple near to Tsukiji Fish Market. The current Indian looking building was built in 1934 following the destruction of its predecessor in the 1923 Kanto Earthquake.

Gokokuji Temple

Like last year, we brought in the New Year listening to the chanting monks at Gokokuji temple. Here you can see the head monk's huge cushion in front of the Nyoirin Kannon Buddha.
